A survey released by Pilot Flying J indicates that some 65% of Americans surveyed plan an increase in the number of trips they plan to take this summer. Pilot Flying J is the largest operator of travel centers in North America with more than 750 locations in 44 states and six Canadian provinces. The company is headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Some interesting results from the survey:
- More than half (53%) of Americans plan to take a road trip this summer with 52% of the road trippers intending an outdoors-focused trip.
- One-third of (33%) of respondents said they’d prefer to drive due to worries flying post COVID-19. Interestingly, people said they would be willing to add an average of most than 6-1/2 hours to their trip by opting to drive.
- Of those planning to travel this summer, two-thirds (65%) are thinking about taking a three-month hiatus from work and traveling instead.
